Saskatchewan Soccer strives to provide all people with the opportunity to participate in soccer at every age, no matter their abilities, and this includes participation for participants with disabilities. Soccer is an excellent sport for participants with disabilities because it is a sport that can be easily adapted to meet participants’ abilities and needs, no matter their age.
Battlefords Youth Soccer Inc. is currently in the beginning stages of their Adaptive Soccer Program. It is hoped the application process and program development will be completed and ready to go for the Indoor Season. BYSI plans to have an Indoor Adaptive Program.

Participate in Soccer
Many participants with disabilities participate in programming directly with their local Member Organizations. Our Member Organizations work hard to offer programming that is accessible to participants of all abilities, and work with participants and their parents/guardians to ensure that the soccer experience meets their needs. Want to play soccer in Saskatchewan? Contact any of our Member Organizations to get involved. Not sure who to call? Contact us so we can direct you to the right organization.
Adaptive Soccer
Saskatchewan Soccer also encourages its Member Organizations to develop adaptive programming specific for athletes with disabilities. Would you be interested to see a specific type of adaptive programming within your Member Organization? Are you a Member Organization looking to create an adaptive program? Check out our Adaptive Soccer Member Strategy to learn how we're expanding programming in this area. Contact the Coordinator of Member Services at cms@sasksoccer.com or (306) 519-1618 to find out how to get started.
Athletes with Intellectual Disabilities
Saskatchewan Soccer is a proud partner of Special Olympics Saskatchewan, the provincial organization offering sport opportunities for athletes with intellectual disabilities. Participate with soccer teams in Saskatoon, Regina, Humboldt, and other locations across Saskatchewan. Visit Special Olympics Saskatchewan for more information.
Canada's Para Soccer National Team
Canada's Para Soccer Team is made up of athletes who have cerebral palsy or have had a stroke or brain injury. To accommodate the abilities of the athletes and to make the game more exciting, the game has slight modifications, such as a smaller field, smaller nets, no offside rule, etc.
If you are an athlete with one of these three disabilities, you could play for Team Canada in international competition! For more information, or to be identified, visit Canada Soccer.
